Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British American singer and musician, is well known for her songs. She is the youngest female and was the first person to be awarded the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shankar is one of India's rising stars in the sitar. She is a scholar and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born 1982 in London. Her early years were spent in London as well as New Delhi. Her first performance took place at New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha continues to have a bright performing and recording careers, even though she's young. Her father has accompanied her to numerous performances over many years. In 1998, she released Anourag as her debut solo record. The following year, she released the Grammy nomination-winning Live at Carnegie Hall. Her career on stage is extensive for she has appeared in all of the biggest venues in the world. The career of Anoushka doesn't only comprise music. Bapi the love of My Live, a biographical picture written in tribute to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. In 2003 she starred as a Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging superstar and her fame is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her youth living between London and Delhi later relocating to California where she went to high school. In Delhi on his birthday, which was celebrated at the age of 75 Anoushka first made an appearance as a sitar player before the crowd of four years following her nine-year-old father. As a part of her dad's band as he toured the world Anoushka racked up a wealth of performances at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and recording alongside George Harrison. The youngest female to receive the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musicianship in the Asian Arts.
